first things first! gleaning inspiration from phelpsian bloggers worldwide, i've decided to add a daily feature. hopefully this will keep me updating more frequently. of course, that could be dangerous on days when i specifically have nothing to say. it means more conjured randomness.
the new feature is the Song of the Day. starting us off: i'm choosing "she will be loved" by Maroon 5 much against my better judgment. i actually can't stand maroon 5. i hated their first single ... what was it, "this love"? i can't even remember because i've tried to block out all memory of it. that could be their 2nd single, and it just seems like i've been hearing it for 2 years. but the reason i'm under compulsion to pick "she will be loved" for today is the fact that it was blaring in my ears via the alarm clock this morning, and that line "i don't mind spending every day out on your doorstep in the pouring rain" and the next one about the "girl with the broken smile" just keep running through my head. at least that's what i think the song says, or what my groggy and/or irrational to the point of violent mind told me that it said as i refused to get out of bed this morning.
on a much lighter note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AMANDA FASHBAUGH!!! she really should have gotten her present on time. maybe i shouldn't be saying this to all the people who DIDN'T get their presents on time. uh, er, heh ... i plead temporary insanity ... from this point on for the rest of my life.
speaking of insanity. i watched "taking lives" last night. alone. in my room. with the door closed. and i just about peed my pants when she's laying in that bed looking up at the ceiling. if you've seen it, you know the part. it was partially because i wasn't really thinking it was supposed to be a terribly startling movie, just intense. and also because i was being distracted by the spread of michael phelps articles in front of me, most of them with pictures where his swim cap, goggles and/or headphones flatten out the not-so-aerodynamic (aquadynamic?) protuberances on the sides of his head (read: ears). it's quite an improvement to the au naturel. anyway, so i wasn't really paying close attention to the movie at that point. i look up, see she's inspecting a deserted apartment, see her lay down on an old bed ... and then i have a heart attack. how fun. the movie was disappointingly predictable. the only point i was not just taken off guard but actually not sure what was going to happen until right before was the very end. i think the acting was okay. kiefer sutherland basically did a cameo.
i'm looking forward to watching "macarthur park" (been meaning to rent it for some time now) and "the united states of leland."
