Thursday . Discover .

beginning with daily excerpts from wed. night's youth ministry-led prayer service. i actually wrote an editorial concerning the second point: Christian status quo. maybe i'll dig it up sometime.

† On earth, we never arrive, never get to a point where we've got it nailed, where we figure everything out. We constantly discover new areas that need to be chiseled away. There is so much to learn. One of the greatest learners of all time said this: "Let the wise listen and add to their learning and let the discerning get guidance."
† But learning is hard. It is challenging. So sometimes we give up. We stop growing, stop discovering, wither up, die. Status quo is easier. We take the road of least resistance, rather than the road less traveled.
† Have you ever become so weary that you feel like throwing in the towel? Do you ever just coast through life, going through the motions, but not giving any of it much thought? Have the burdens of life and the rigors of "Christianity" worn you down? There is a Rabbi who speaks to you [today]. Listen to His words: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
† Maybe discovery isn't the problem. Maybe discovery is part of the solution.
